Gallery & Workshop
Work is currently underway on the Recycled by Design ™ Gallery and Workshop and is due to open summer 2008.
If you're visiting Papay be sure to drop in.
We are situated at the far north of the island next to the RSPB reserve.
At the Gallery and workshop you will receive a warm welcome and complimentary coffee, tea or juice.
As well as seeing work in progress, an opportunity to purchase items made by Jan and her team; unavailable elsewhere.
In the Gallery you will also find felted wool wall hangings, needle-felted wool sculptures of mermaids, recycled plastic bag jewellery and art and some very funky recycled furniture.
The Gallery and Workshop has its own interesting recycling story; a very spacious conservatory formerly used as a childcare nursery in Wales.
Amazingly it was dismantled from a private dwelling and moved to Papay by the local removal company McAdie & Reeve who originally moved the Crocker family from Ipswich, Suffolk, in 1998.
The builders that originally erected the conservatory in Wales took charge of dismantling and carefully labelling all the components and then travelling to Papay to erect it again!
